Work Out From the Comfort of Your Command Line

Screenshot of command-line workout code.

I’ve been trying the scientific 7-minute workout for a few weeks now, and I like its speed and simplicity. There are lots of apps and websites to help you time the series of exercises in the workout, but I thought it would be fun to write one that I could run from the command line. This gives me the option of adding in new exercises, changing the order of the workout, and passing other parameters that other sites don’t give you.

You can get the file and instructions for running it here. When run from your command line, the file will count you though every exercise of the seven minute workout, with a chime so you don’t need to keep your eye on the screen. I’ve got a lot of features in mind that I want to build out over the next few weeks, but I like that I was able to get something useful up and running so quickly.
